Good News: No More Balance Check Fees in the EcoCash App

EcoCash has just made life a little easier for its users. As of May 6, 2025, checking your wallet balance in the EcoCash mobile app is now free

For years, customers were charged 13 cents to view their balances, even within the app. The latest update changes that — no more surprise fees just for staying on top of your finances.

What’s New in the App

In addition to waiving the balance check fee, the latest version of the EcoCash app brings some helpful improvements:

• • Biometric login for added security

  • Send money to multiple recipients

  • Easily switch between USD and ZiG currency in the App

The SMS alert after transacting still comes through with the balance as well so you can also check your balance using that option

Heads up: If you’re still using USSD (*153#), the 13-cent charge still applies for now. But if you have access to the app, it’s definitely worth updating to enjoy the new, fee-free experience.
